Roman Society and vote during the Republic

Roman society of the Republic and their right to vote: The introduction of an assembly of the people and their Tribunes provided the broader population an important lever in legislative power.

What is interesting to note is the introduction of the Assembly of the People – a sort of house of Commons in the UK whilst the Senate would have been a sort of House of Lords. An added point of interest is on the right hand side of the diagram: the Roman military have a voting house of their own called the “Assembly of Centuries” through which they can influence the election of the three highest levels of Magistrates.
